Short Biographical Statement for Press Release: 

A.K.Simon is a graduate of Ohio University with a BFA in Graphic Design. She works as a freelance graphic designer, fine artist and jewelry designer from  Studio 7.5 in Canal Winchester, Ohio. She has won several recent awards for her landscape paintings as well as the Charles Logan Smith award for excellence in graphic design and a national award for the design of a Medicare form. Her fine art hangs in private and corporate collections. She is Immediate Past President of the Canal Winchester Art Guild, is a member of Ohio Painters of America, Monarch Gallery Art Co-op in Lancaster, Ohio, Ohio Art League and Ohio Plein Aire Society.

I came to the US in 1964 -planning on staying a year...went back to school...graduated from Marshall with an AB  and MA in Art Ed. and Art...taught Art, first in Huntington, West Virginia, then in Columbus, at the Middle School level. I also spent a lot of time doing Stage set design and murals with my students. I really enjoyed this experience -most of the time!
When I retired, I discovered CWAG, and a group of us fixed up the unused space over Harvest Moon, in Canal Winchester, to rent and use as a studio.
I have exhibited in numerous places in Columbus, also in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and have work on display in Arizona, Texas, Pennsylvania California and England. I am a member of the Monarch Gallery on W. Wheeling St. in Lancaster, Ohio.
I work with a variety of media, mixed and separately, but most of my works are in acrylics and ceramics. Some is serious social comment, some is humorous, some just is...
I like to work realistically and abstractly, building up my colors in layer after layer, both thickly and in thin glazes. I have always enjoyed the effects of colors on each other.
